St. John’s School celebrated Onam on the school’s premises amidst much fanfare involving staff and management of the school. The celebrations started with setting up of an attractive floral decoration (pookalam) in the reception area that was reminiscent of the agrarian past of Kerala, a South Indian state. Impressive designs and artistic creativity were the hallmarks of the Pookalam, which turned out to be attractive and mesmerizing and took everyone into a world of festivity and fun..
The main attractions of the onam programme were a scintillating Onaappaatu depicting the golden era witnessed during the reign of king Mahabali,which was followed by Onam message , speech, group songs, and solo songs and the Thiruvathira Kali by the girls . Another attraction of the day was the traditional ‘onasadya’ prepared and loving served by the management for the entire school staff . It t comprised of more than 15 dishes served on banana leaves and included varieties of vegetables, rice, banana and payasam.
