The most colourful, dynamic and awaited event of the year Navratri was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in St. John’s School on 5th October 2019.
The campus was well decorated for the event. The floor was decorated with colourful Rangolis. The students looked elegant in typical traditional attire which was a spectacular visual treat for everyone.
The Lamp lightening Ceremony, in starting filled the atmosphere with pure holiness. Durga Chalisa was recited by the school choir during Lamp Lightening Ceremony. The significance and the sequential events on all nine different days were beautifully demonstrated by the students through a Dance Drama. Students explained about the different forms of Shakti Devi during the nine days of Navratri. A fantabulous dance performance was presented by the Mahishasur Mardini Group of St. John’s School, Abu Road.
The students were thrilled to learn and understand about the Indian Culture and how Navratri is being celebrated in different ways in different parts of India. The audiences were quizzed based on the festival in which they actively participated. The happiness of students knew no bounds when they were allowed to perform Garba and Dandiya on live orchestra. The positivity and energy was exuberating out of the colourful costumes combined with the enthusiasm of dancing to the Gujrati folk songs. Students also tried out unique styles of garba and dandiya that added a new twist and a different flavor to the traditional dance forms. From each dance group, the Best Dressed Dancer and the Best Dancer were awarded.
The Principal, Mrs. Uma Shyam motivated the students to remain happy in life and learn values from Indian culture and festivals.
The colorful memories of the day would linger student’s mind for the years to come.
