The St. John’s family, Abu Road got together to thank and remember our great freedom fighters who brought us a free country. 71st Independence Day was celebrated in the school campus with great pride and honour. The students did a remarkable job by decorating the stage in tricolour. It looked beautiful and authentic. The tricolor in the hands of KG students, and songs served to create an atmosphere of celebration and patriotic zeal. The programme began with a prayer followed by welcoming a group of students who disguised as freedon fighter (Rani Lami Bai, Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Bhagat Singh, Subash Chandra Bose, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Ram Prasad Bismil, Dada Bhai Naroji, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Lala Lajpat Rai, Khudi Ram Bose, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bharat Mata). The Principal welcomed the freedom fighters by garlanding them. Principal mam along with freedom fighters hoisted the National Flag. Students performed March Past in step as a company with the band playing loud and tri-colour flag flying high. The school Band lead by Master Hitesh Sirvi and Miss Rajeshwari Roy displayed eye catching formations on patriotic songs. The school choir sang soulful patriotic songs. It invigorated the spirit of patriotism among audience. A heart touching dance performance with extremely graceful movements was presented by Monish Khatri of Class XII Com. and Niharika Chouhan of Class VII. It depicted tender relation between a father who is a soldier and his daughter. Khushi Singh, Gokul Karthein, Bhavesh Mali, Anish Agarwal and Siddhi Agarwal of Class VII enthralled the audience with the recitation of beautiful patriotic poem. Md. Musharaf of Class X B elated the audience with his emphatic, power packed speech. He filled the atmosphere with patriotism through his motivational words. A mesmerizing dance performance was presented by the students. Their costume was perfect for the occasion. The Principal Mrs. Uma Shyam in her speech emphasized on the importance and significance of being good citizens. The assembled audience pledged to be good citizen and do their duties to make India a better place to live in. The programme was well coordinated by Zennat Abbasi and Hemanshi Yadav.
