Diwali Celebration with a Difference

A unique Diwali was celebrated in SJS with great fanfare, devotion and excitement. SJS wore a festive look with handmade diyas. Bright coloured rangolis were made by students using flowers, grains and eco-friendly material. Beautifully decorated Pooja Thalis were displayed which looked beautiful together. A colourful back drop was prepared by the students for the Diwali festival. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp. The true spirit of Diwali – Sharing and Caring was depicted by Class I and II. The students presented gifts to all the supporting staff of SJS as a token of thanks. They adorned the school with messages of celebrating eco-friendly Diwali. The happy and smiling faces of children spread the light of joy in the hearts of everyone. To sensitize students to the ill effects of crackers a skit was presented by Class IV A students. It highlighted the message of celebrating eco-friendly Diwali. Abhishek of Class VII A talked about the significance of the festival. The school choir sang a song that brought out the essence of the festival – celebration of life and goodness. Melody was in the air when Maitryee Dave of Class IX B sang a soothing song. The rhythmic and graceful moves of the students performing dances mesmerized the audience. A Dance – Drama was presented by the primary students depicting the story of Ramayan. The programmes concluded with Principal Ma’m giving away the message of celebrating eco-friendly Diwali and being more responsible towards the Mother Earth and society.
