Spin a Yarn - Story Telling Competition

Over the years story telling has proven to be a very important part of early childhood education since it provides the necessary ingredients to broaden the imagination and takes the listener to unimaginable places. Children relate to a story better than they relate to a command. To enhance the confidence and narrating skill of the students, St. John’s School, Abu Road organized Spin a Yarn - Story Telling Competition for the students of Classes I to V “Make your own Fairy Tale” was the theme for Classes I and II. Original innovative stories floated on the stage when young story tellers narrated their stories using a variety of props. They lived the character of the story. The intonation of voice and the expression attracted the audience, it enabled the students to create their own unique identity while receiving huge round of applause from the audience and judges. The theme for Classes III to V was “Original Indian Folklore”. It included the tales from Panchatantra, Jataka, Akabr - Birbal, Hitopadesha and great Indian Epics – Ramayana, Mahabharat etc. The participants disguised themselves as the character of the story. Each story concluded with a moral high lighting different values of life.
