Gandhi Jayanti Celebration

2nd October is a day to remember and pay homage to two great sons of India Mahatma Gandhi Ji and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji. The birthday of Mahatma Gandhi Ji and Shastri Ji was celebrated in St. John’s School, Abu Road on 2nd October, 2018. The programme began by lighting the lamp and paying humble obesience to the Lord. The Principal of the School Mrs. Uma Shyam garlanded the portrait of Mahtma Gandhi Ji and Shastri Ji. Gandhiji’s most preferred and devotional song “Raghupati Raghav RajaRam“ was sung in the remembrance of him by the school choir. Charul Agarwal of Class XI Commerce and Vishkha Agarwal of Class XI Science passed the message of truth and non – violence taught by Bapu through their poems. Vidhi Singhal of Class XI Commerce recited a poem on Shastriji’s life. Md. Musharraf of Class XI Commerce presented his thoughts the Gandhian philosophy by the speech. An electrifying atmosphere was set up by the students of Class III ‘A’ when they presented an activity on Gandhiji’s teaching of living a fit and healthy life. Students of Class IV and V presented a skit based on the life of Lal Bahadur Shastriji, the person who revolutionized the agricultural sector of India, and worked extensively to eliminate the social problems like food shortage, unemployment and poverty of India. An energetic dance was performed hailing the soldiers and the farmers of the country. Naresh Kumar of Class V ‘B’ and Vishvendra Singh of Class VI ‘B’ disguised themselves as Shastri Ji and Gandhi ji respectively and walked down the assembly. They were greeted by the audience with loud rounds of applause. The students were in the character and interacted with the students. The students not only spoke about the teachings of the two great leaders but also promised to inculcate the teachings of their life. The Principal of the school Mrs. Uma Shyam passed the message of spreading love in our society and keeping our society clean as dreamt by the father of the Nation. The programme concluded by retorating the slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan, followed by the National Anthem.
